Cooking school
23rd April 2007 @ 07:55pm
I finally managed to get to a cooking course in this part of the world, having failed once in Cambodia and twice in Laos, and it was great... just Khilna, Kaye and myself...
- Picked up from our hotel, and off to the market to purchase supplies
- Out to the school, very flash, in very nice surroundings
- Pad Thai first, and we were eating by 10:30 (shouldn't have had breakfast)
- Thom yum soup next, more food at 11:15, really shouldn't have had breakfast...!!
- A wander round the cooking school garden to check out all the herbs etc that are used in Thai cooking growing...
- Green curry paste from scratch (note to self, don't get curry juice in your eye...!!)
- Spring roll filling...
- Back to make the green curry, very tasty indeed, and though not as easy as the Indian curries that I learnt, pretty simple really...
- Rolled and fried our spring rolls... yum... could only manage to eat one of the four, as there's still...
- Sticky rice with mango to follow... sort of like a very sweet rice pudding with fresh mango and coconut cream, delicious...!!
- Back to our hotel about 2 pm feeling like we may never need to eat again.
Went for a wander round the city and market in the afternoon to try and work off some of the food that had been consumed, then had a very light dinner and an early night ;-)
